Gratitude Season: A Personal Reflection

Gratitude Season: A Personal Reflection

As we get close to Thanksgiving, I find myself reflecting on the countless blessings in my life and the people who fill my world with purpose and joy. November has always been a time for me to show my gratitude — a time when I intentionally pause, count my blessings, and try to give back.

Family, Friends & the Heart of the Home

This year, my family will gather in my home for the holidays. I am incredibly thankful we’ll be sharing meals together, made even richer by a family of amazing cooks! Having both of my parents still with us is a true blessing. My daughter, Suzi, will be here from the West Coast, and our time will be split between reliving every moment of the new Wicked movie and making sure that her New Zealander boyfriend gets to taste every Southern dish that we love!  I’m also grateful that our Clemson-loving family members will return home on Friday, just in time for the Carolina vs. Clemson game (a little friendly family rivalry never hurt!).

My husband, Scott, deserves his own mention. His unwavering support and the way he challenges me are gifts in my life. Scott is my partner in every sense of the word; he respects me as fiercely as he loves me.

The Joy of Working Alongside Hampton

One of the unexpected joys of my life has been the opportunity to work side by side with my son, Hampton. Growing up, my father and his brothers (and me in the summers) worked in a family business. While I never had that expectation for my children, Hampton chose to join me professionally, and this partnership has been an incredible gift. We share a deep commitment to our community and a vision for our clients’ journeys, and working together has strengthened our bond.

Grateful for My “Right Arm,” Dana

Dana — well, if you know her, you understand. She’s been with me through thick and thin, both personally and professionally, good times and challenging ones. Dana is steadfast, true, and, frankly, irreplaceable. Words can’t express my gratitude for her dedication, loyalty, and friendship.

A Community of Friends, Neighbors & Clients

I'm grateful for long-standing friendships that have grown over the years and the neighbors who bring so much happiness into my life. I’m privileged to live in a beautiful place like Pawleys Island, where every day feels like a gift. And to my clients, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your real estate stories. Your trust and partnership mean the world to me.

A Company Rooted in Service

One of the greatest blessings of my career has been working with Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage, a company where “Do Something Nice for Someone – Daily” is more than a motto. The flooding from the recent hurricane impacted our colleagues in the Asheville/Hendersonville area, and many of my fellow agents are facing devastating losses. Our leadership team has pledged ongoing support for those affected, and I am committed to joining that effort. With every closing I make, a portion will go toward supporting my colleagues as they rebuild their lives and homes.

Organizations Close to My Heart

This “Gratitude Season” feels like the perfect time to share some of the causes that are especially meaningful to me. In my heart, showing gratitude includes giving back, and I’m honored to support the following organizations that make our community a better place.

  • Baskervill Food Pantry – Supporting food security in Georgetown County, this ministry offers supplemental food and nutrition education to those in need. (And they too have recently sent support to Western North Carolina.
  • Smith Medical Clinic – Providing no-cost medical care to our uninsured neighbors, Smith Medical Clinic treats each patient with respect and compassion.
  • Mainstreet Pawleys – A group of citizens in partnership with Georgetown County to maintain the main corridor of Pawleys Island, reflecting our community pride.
  • Shaping Her Future - A college and career-readiness platform helping young women navigate the transition from student to professional.
  • Miss South Carolina Scholarship Foundation – As an annual scholarship donor, I am proud to support this foundation that offers academic and community-based scholarships to young women in our state.

Giving Back with Every Sale

As part of our commitment to gratitude, we have woven charitable giving into our real estate services. When a client closes on a property, we offer to take non-perishable food items to Baskervill Food Pantry and donate linens or towels to St. Frances Humane Society or All for Paws. Additionally, we ask each client to share their “charity of choice,” allowing us to donate in their honor at closing. This initiative lets us celebrate what matters most to our clients and contribute to causes that are important to THEM.

From the Heart, Thank You

For those who have trusted me as your real estate advisor, please know how truly grateful I am for each of you. This season and always, I am reminded of just how much you’ve enriched my life. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your journeys, and I look forward to serving you with gratitude, dedication, and a deep sense of purpose.

Happy Gratitude Season! 🌟
